“People Watching” Poem by A. Roze

7 Jul

All day, I have nothing to say,

But want to pick up the phone when it gets late.

Everything comes to mind,

The right words, wrong time.

Alone now with my thoughts,

Surrounded by passings souls, forgot.

Main character in my book,

Extra in theirs,

I swear they can’t see me,

Even when they stare.

Am I even really here?

I can feel, I can hear,

Music that’s playing,

But the words they’re saying

Dash in and out of my ears.

One moment a blur, next one clear,

Mind full of stories,

Hours keep pouring,

Minutes so sheer,

So paper thin that they cut,

They never give up,

Coming at me so fast,

but never really last,

Only scary for a moment,

Now everything’s dormant,

How quickly things change.
